Basic Etching Workshop
This basic workshop introduces plate preparation, coating plates with a ground, working into a ground to create line and value, etching as well as printing. Students will learn to prepare their plates, coat them with a ground, etch and print them.
Etching has been an important technique since the 16th century and was made famous by artists like Goya, Rembrandt and Turner. This workshop is open to those who are just beginning or those who want to learn less toxic methods of etching.
Michael Merry will be leading this workshop. He earned his MFA from the University of Delaware and teaches at both the University of Alabama and Snead State Community College. He is a founding member of PaperWorkers Local.
The workshop will meet on February 8 & 15 from 5:00 to 8:30.
